46. 420 East Maple Street

Description: 420 East Maple Street was the parsonage for the German Methodist Church. In 1905 Rev. E. F. Schneider was the pastor and resident of the home. The church voted to disband after the 1937 flood, in 1938, and was eventually sold to the Seventh Day Adventist Church. The house itself eventually became their community service building, until it was torn down. The basic house was a square block, three windows wide on the front. From the picture you can see that there was a one story addition at the back. There was also a two story, small wing on the left hand side that had its own entrance. This was possibly the ministers study with a separate entrance for parishioners so that the household would not be disturbed. In the back to the left you can see the side of the German Methodist church, along with an RV camper indicative of the 1970s.
