203. The James Howard Steamboat

Description: Photograph of the packet, James Howard, at dock with a smaller dock vessel beside it. The James Howard was a side wheeler with open cattle deck, a level for passengers, and the traditional captains cabin on top. She had two large and two small smoke stacks. The location of the photograph is not identified. Built along the Ohio River, but for the Mississippi, the boat could have been on either waterway.
