Archaeological excavation site at Angel Mounds State Historic Site in southwestern Indiana near the Ohio River. WPA workers began scientific excavations under the direction of Glenn A. Black in the 1930s, with Indiana University continuing archaeological study since 1945. The site was transferred to the State of Indiana in 1946. |
