Photographs concerning the military service of Lemuel Dixon, which belonged to his relative, Mildred Harrod, as well as military-issued postcards from the U.S. base in Vancouver, Washington. Three of the photographs show the flight and landing of the army airship, Gelatine, which flew from the Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition in Portland, Oregon to the Vancouver Barracks on September 19, 1905. Most of the people depicted were in Dixon's regiment, the 14th Infantry. At age 20, Dixon died in hospital on December 15, 1907 during his army service in Washington. |
