English family on Monument Circle photographs

Description: Snapshots from William E. English and his family on Monument Circle in Indianapolis, Indiana. The family owned the English Hotel and Opera House, a grand Victorian building at 120 Monument Circle, which stood from 1880 to 1948. Many of the photographs show parades and other events on the Circle, including the return of Vice President Charles W. Fairbanks to his hometown and the visit of former President Theodore Roosevelt on October 13, 1910. Several photographs depict William E. English riding around the Circle and two photographs most likely depict his wife Helen and daughter Rosalind on the balcony of their building.
