Major Lowell G. Schweickart (post engineer), Captain W. Howard Hopkins (executive officer and operations officer), Lieutenant William V. Tayc (maintenance officer), and Lieutenant Jacques Mohr (administrative officer and assistant post fire marshal), standing together in front of an administrative building at Camp Atterbury, Indiana during World War II (No. 144 D). These officers were in charge of the Office of the Post Engineer, which included three branches: administrative, fire prevention and engineering. Engineering was in charge of utilities and maintenance operations for buildings, roads, structures, railroads, grounds and so on, as well as structural design and planning (from Camp Crier newspaper, July 30, 1943, p. 2). |
