Description: Major General Allen W. Gullion, the Provost Marshal General of the Army, with Camp Atterbury post commander Colonel Welton M. Modisette, Lieutenant Colonel John L. Gammell, the interment camp commander, and Major Ben H. Powell, Gen. Gullions aide (left to right) (No. 128 A). . Gullion visited Camp Atterbury to inspect the Italian prisoner-of-war internment camp and complimented Gammell on the excellent conditions of the buildings and grounds as well as the treatment of the POWs during World War II (Camp Crier, July 16, 1943, p. 1).
