The first four images show James Whitcomb Riley going into the Murat Theater in Indianapolis for his final birthday celebration in 1915. These are stills from the video Indiana Historic Pictures (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdzSC3C-YtA) which was filmed by Harry H. Coburn. The rest of the photos were taken at the 1925 James Whitcomb Riley celebration in Greenfield, Indiana, which included a parade. The floats were decorated to depict different poems written by Riley during his life and were frequently were done by local schools and highlighted the local children. |
