This photograph shows the Indiana Bell building, located at 240 North Meridian Street in Indianapolis, Indiana, undergoing construction during the 1960s. Indiana Bell, founded in 1920, served as the Indiana branch of the Bell Telephone Company. In 1930, Indiana Bell performed a feat of engineering by moving an existing building to create room for a new headquarters. The new Indiana Bell building was completed in 1932 and underwent expansions in the 1940s and 1960s. In 1975, Indiana Bell completed construction on an additional building at 220 North Meridian Street, just south of the headquarters, to house the companys growing offices. |
