Roosevelt gave a speech at at the 8th annual Clark County Chamber of Commerce dinner in recognition of the Colgate-Palmolive Co. Nearly 1000 people attended the dinner, held in the Clarksville High School gymnasium, including Supreme Court Justice Sherman Minton. Roosevelt had just returned from an extensive tour of Russia and spoke for an hour about her experience. During the speech, she called upon the American people to study and understand Russia in order to meet the Communist challenge. She cautioned Americans not to underestimate the foreign power. |
