St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Clarksville, Indiana

Description: Undated photograph of the exterior of the second St. Anthony Church, opened in 1878 and located on the corner of Maple and Wall Streets in Jeffersonville, Ind. The first was built in 1851 at the corner of Meigs Avenue and Maple Streets, also in Jeffersonville. In 1949 land was purchased in Clarksville to develop a new parish campus. By the fall of 1949 St. Anthony School had opened and a short time later the church and convent were completed. In 1970 a fire heavily damaged the church. A new separate church building was constructed and formally dedicated in 1972.
