Visible are the stone piers, a caisson surrounding the first pier to the right, the superstructure under construction, two boats tied to shore, and three automobiles. The photograph illustrates the four-lane cantilevered truss bridge being constructed with the newly invented method of building from the center towards land, instead of from land to the center. The view is from the Kentucky side of the river to the Indiana side. |
