Description: Photograph of the Ohio River, taken August 5, 1920. The view is from the Indiana side of the river, near Clarksville, across the Falls of the Ohio, and towards Louisville on the Kentucky side. The Pennsylvania Railroad Bridge can be seen on the left of the photo. Also visible on the Kentucky side are the twin towers of the drawbridge over the Portland Canal. Camp Joe Holt was a Union base during the Civil War and a major staging area for troops in the Western Theater. The camp closed in 1866.
