Smith letter from Ernest, 28 Jun 1945

Description: Ernest is in the Philippines. He talks about his travels while in the service to Hawaii, Guadalcanal, New Caledonia, and New Hebrides Islands. He is camped on the beach and it rains a lot. The natives like to trade with the GIs. Ernest would like to trade for their outrigger boat. The natives do his laundry. He bought a G.E. radio and listens to Tokyo. This letter is part of a 37 letter collection written to Frank A. and Dorothy Smith between March and October 1945 during World War II. The letters are from 8 different family and friends serving overseas.
