McKinney family papers 1823-1923

The McKinney family papers span 100 years and at least three generations of the McKinney family. The collection starts in 1823 with the purchase of 3 acres in Charlestown, Indiana and ends in 1923 with a bill of sale for a Ford Touring car. The majority of documents belonged to Martin V. and Estelle V. (nee Cain) McKinney. The earliest documents are from the generation before Martin and Estelle. Later documents belonged to their daughters, Zella Connell and Mattie Nickles. There are documents belonging to Martin and Estelle’s parents and siblings and other people. There are a wide variety of documents including business contracts, deeds, mortgages, check books, receipts of all kinds, the will of Lucy Ann Funk, bill of sales, letters, Martin’s Civil War pension papers, court judgments, rental agreements and more. |
