Korean War Letter from Mabyn S. Barnett to Jesse G. Dorsey 23 Aug 1951

Description: Mabyn has just gotten back after a 3 day pass. She has received Jesse’s letter and Speed-O-Meter. She rested while on leave as it is impossible for her to get rest on the post. She states that the Finance Center in Indianapolis will take two years to build which will keep her where she is currently. The flood was bad enough to cause people to lose their homes and farmland. She is writing the letter while on guard duty. This letter is part of the Jesse G. Dorsey Korean War Correspondence collection. Dorsey was the Director of Recreation and Welfare and editor of the Speed-O-Meter newsletter for the Louisville Cement Company. Dorsey began sending monthly letters and the Speed-O-Meter to local service personnel during WWII. He continued this through the Korean War and for sometime afterwards.
