Korean War Letter from Emmett O. Baxter to Jesse G. Dorsey 16 Aug 1951

Description: It is Sunday and Emmett has the day off. He says he writes 10 to 15 letters on the weekends but few people write him back. They have many sports teams. Emmett won the 100 yd freestyle and the 200 yd freestyle team swimming. He is going to be transferred to Treasure Island, California to go to the Underwater Demolition School for training. The Waves from Great Lakes are being transferred to Bainbridge which means they can start having dances. This letter is part of the Jesse G. Dorsey Korean War Correspondence collection. Dorsey was the Director of Recreation and Welfare and editor of the Speed-O-Meter newsletter for the Louisville Cement Company. Dorsey began sending monthly letters and the Speed-O-Meter to local service personnel during WWII. He continued this through the Korean War and for sometime afterwards.
