Description: |
Delyn is writing from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. The first time he received Jesse’s letters he was in Europe while in combat with an Infantry rifle company. He really appreciates receiving the letters once again from Jesse just as much as he did in WWII. Four years after being discharged, he was recalled involuntarily to active duty in the Army. He reported to Fort Riley, Kansas then was sent to Camp Atterbury, Indiana. He was assigned to the Information and Education Section and attended several schools. He was released from active duty because of new regulations. He is currently attending Indiana University working on his Master’s Degree in Education. He wonders how he will be able to sit in the Indiana section and still cheer for Purdue, his former alma mater. This letter is part of the Jesse G. Dorsey Korean War Correspondence collection. Dorsey was the Director of Recreation and Welfare and editor of the Speed-O-Meter newsletter for the Louisville Cement Company. Dorsey began sending monthly letters and the Speed-O-Meter to local service personnel during WWII. He continued this through the Korean War and for sometime afterwards. |
