JOHNSON, Chairman. Secretary.Indianapolis, Ind., Oct. 25, 1886.DEAR SIR:This is the last opportunity I shall have to write you before the election. We are going to carry the State by a BETTER plurality than we did in 1884. This is the week to get in your work. Get out your horse and ride over the Township and see the Boys. If there is a Democrat talking about not going to the election, URGE him to come out. Get his promise to go. Assign a good Democrat to each doubtful voter and instruct him to get his vote for the WHOLE ticket. Organize for election day with a force sufficient to protect every Democrat and doubtful voter in his rights. When you start to the polls with a voter,go with him and see that he votes his sentiments. When you challenge a voter whose right to vote is uncertain, dont be persuaded or deterred in your lawful rights. If a Democrat is challenged and he is a legal voter, see that the proper affidavit is filed and that HE VOTES. Pluck, firmness and determination will win. Never leave a few Democrats alone around the polls to be overawed or insulted by Republicans. Stand together: Dont argue with or insult Republicans, nor allow them to insult or intimidate any Democrat. See that conveyances are on hand to bring in the sick. In short, make a GAIN in your precinct. I talk plainly to you because I know you to be a good Democrat, and willing to do your whole duty. I will telegraph your Committeeman the result in the State, and I am sure it will be a grand and glorious victory for our party. I am very truly yours,Eb HendersonCHAIRMAN.
