Korean War Letter from Danny J. Vogel to Jesse G. Dorsey 23 Oct 1953

Description: Danny is writing from Korea after the war is over. He says everyone enjoys reading the Speed-O-Meter newsletter. Now that it is too cold to swim, he spends some of his free time fishing. The streams have been messed up by people using hand grenades instead of poles. He has not gotten to the streams that are supposed to have fine trout. He spent a weekend with Claude Meyer. Danny thinks that Korea is actually a beautiful country, if you are able to separate it from the horrors of war. There are many pheasants around. Hunters do not seem to be bothered by the mine fields because they always get their birds. This letter is part of the Jesse G. Dorsey Korean War Correspondence collection. Dorsey was the Director of Recreation and Welfare and editor of the Speed-O-Meter newsletter for the Louisville Cement Company. Dorsey began sending monthly letters and the Speed-O-Meter to local service personnel during WWII. He continued this through the Korean War and for sometime afterwards.
