Poor Farm Ledger, Clark County, Indiana 1923-1941

Description:	This ledger is for the Poor Farm, also known as the Clark County Asylum for Aged and Infirm, which was located on Highway 62 near Charlestown, Indiana. The building was constructed in 1907 and torn down in 2005. Two pictures of this building are provided at the end of the ledger. The ledger contains the names of residents from 1923 to 1941. The facility was closed as a Poor Farm in 1941 and the building was taken over by the Indiana Army Ammunition Plant as part of the war effort. Other information about the people is provided including age, place of previous residence, reason for leaving, cause of death, and place of burial. This facility took in adults and children. They even housed some refugees from the Flood of 1937. Towards the end of the book, there are lists for the amount of supplies and food used in a month. Blank pages were not scanned.
