Louisville Cement Company photograph album 1925-1928

Description:	Photograph album containing mostly pictures of the construction of the Akron Cement Plant and quarry in Akron, New York and a few photographs of the Speed Cement Plant in Speed, Indiana. Both cement plants were owned by Louisville Cement Company of Louisville, Kentucky. The Akron Cement Plant and quarry were located at Akron Junction on the north side of Highway 5 just to the southwest of Akron, New York. It was constructed in 1925 and 1926. The Akron plant and quarry are no longer there. The Speed plant in Sellersburg, Indiana is still in operation but with different owners.Some of the photographs are marked as being taken by William H. Brandel of Buffalo, New York. John W. Cowper Co., Inc. of Buffalo, New York is labeled as being the construction company. Most of the small photographs are not labeled for date or location and have no photographer listed. The photographs of Speed, Indiana were taken by Royal Photo Company of Louisville, Kentucky. A few photographs are lost from the album. The photographs are in black and white.
