Description:	The Action is the first employee newsletter of Indiana Ordnance Works smokeless powder plant on Highway 62 in Charlestown, Indiana. There are just 11 issues of The Action. Numbers 3, 6 and 7 are missing from this collection. The U.S. Government began purchasing land in 1940 and contracted with du Pont to build and manufacture smokeless powder ordnance. The title of the newsletter varied slightly from issue to issue. At the time of the first newsletter dated 24 January 1941, the plant was in the construction phase and had not been named Indiana Ordnance Works. By the last issue dated 4 August 1941, the plant had been named and began production. In August 1941, a new newsletter called Powder Horn replaced The Action.
