Description: |
The caption for this photograph reads: An American Flag is no small item anywhere, but when one 28 by 60 feet is carried nearly four miles floating in the breezes by 62 men, a hundred and fifty miles from home, and all for the honor of its native county it deserves unusual menion. The glorious flag of the local council of Knights of Columbus was taken to Indianapolis and represented Dubois Countys patriotism in the parade of counties. The Flag had not been carried a hundred yards until the cheering began, and was kept up for four miles. Perhaps no single float in the parade received more applause than did this gigantic flag. Old men and women wept, young men and maidens cheered, high school boys and girls sang, and children in arms clapped their hands as the men trudged with the greatest flag that floats. Ex-Pres. Taft and Gov. Ralston stood in the reviewing stand and with hats in their hands cheered for Dubois county. Keywords: American flag, crowd, people, parade. |
