David Hopkins, Early Businessman (1820-1870)

Description: One of the areas earliest and most successful businessmen, Hopkins settled in Chesterton in 1850. A major landowner, he operated a general merchandise store and a cooperage for making barrels. He also served as postmaster and Township Trustee.
