Construction began in 1889 as a monument to Indiana’s Civil War soldiers’ and sailors’. The 284 feet 6 inch tall tower now honors all of Indiana’s heroes who died in service before World War I. This medal, a souvenir from the dedication ceremony, commemorates the event. The Whitehead & Hoag Co. made the medal in Indianapolis, Indiana.
