Description: |
Many Native American Indian cultures teach their children to learn by example. Many toys are meant to instruct the girl or boy about their duties when they reach adulthood. This particular baby carrier may have been used for a little girl’s lesson on motherhood or made for sale to tourists during the turn of the century. There are more than seventy distinct Pomo tribes in Northern California and this style of baby carrier is attributed to the Ukiah Pomo. This particular baby carrier was made in the early 1900s. |
