Ceramic pot

Description:	The Ancestral Puebloans (Anasazi) lived in the present-day Four Corners region, which includes New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, and Arizona. They lived in this area from AD1 and AD1300 and are thought to be the ancestors of the modern Pueblo Indians now living in New Mexico and Arizona. The pottery, made between AD 1100-1200, was made from sandstone and shale clay, and covered in black or red geometric designs. The colors are carefully painted on with brushes made from the yucca plant. Designs of this period are denser than those from earlier times. This vessel could have been used for carrying water, but also could have been used to protect stored food from insects and rodents.
