Little Red Riding hood punch bowl

Description: Children of the turn of the century played with toy dishes just as they do today! For special parties, nothing could beat this set with a molded Fairytale pattern of Little Red Riding Hood. Other punch sets imitated real cut or pressed glass patterns used by adults. This pattern was available in clear glass, white or blue milk glass and cobalt blue clear glass; all but the clear glass are considered rare. Charles Perrault published “Little Red Riding Hood” in Histoires ou Contes du temps passe in 1697. This tale is one of the few popular tales that has no known literary version prior to Perrault’s publication. After it was published, the tale grew in popularity, and many countries incorporated their own version of the tale into their culture. The Grimm brothers wrote their version called “Little Red Cap” in 1812.
