Deschutes oak fossil

Description: Petrified woods that are unearthed in Deschutes Canyon of north central Oregon are remarkable for their fine degree of preservation. Woods found in this area exhibit a wide array of colors and species. This specimen is a fossil oak from the Miocene Epoch, over 5 million years old.
