Description: |
Laura Walsh made this smoking jacket and its matching hat for her husband--and he provided the materials! This jacket is made of silk bands that were used to package bundles of cigars. Mr. Walsh smoked enough cigars to make a jacket and a matching hat. Quilts and pillowcases were more typical examples of cigar band art. Cigar band art was popular in the late 19th and early 20th century. |
