Description: |
A coverlet is a kind of woven bed covering that was popular throughout most of the 19th century. Professional weavers (mostly men) would set up a shop or travel around and make coverlets. Often the person buying the coverlet would provide the weaver with wool they had spun and dyed themselves. This coverlet was made by the Craig family in Decatur County, Indiana in 1858 for Mrs. Nancy Williams. |
