Vietnam jacket

Description: Decorated tour or Pleiku jackets worn by Vietnam GIs were one of the most visible forms of a soldiers shared experience. Pleiku jackets--named so because they were often produced in Pleiku, Vietnam--were souvenirs made for purchase by GIs with a variety of embroidered designs, often with formal unit name, supplemented with custom designs like maps, slogans, patches or tour dates. Child-size jackets were also sent home to younger brothers with the words, My brother is in Vietnam.
