Description: |
This doll was made by the Jules Steiner doll company around 1890. Many European doll makers offered black bisque dolls, but they were often just tinted versions of dolls with Caucasian features. Nonetheless, these elegant dolls differed from the many negatively stereotypical black toys being made in the United States at the time. |
