Crime fighting character Batman was created by Bob Kane in 1939 for DC Comics. Assisted by his teenage sidekick Robin, Batman fought a variety of villains including the Joker, the Penguin, and Catwoman. In 1966 ABC introduced a live-action half-hour show based on the comic strip, and Batman appeared as one of the “Super Friends” on Saturday mornings in the 1970s and 1980s. Fans of the Caped Crusader could enjoy toys like this play set made by Mego in 1976. |
