Description: |
This animal is about two feet wide and three feet tall, with a concave middle. Basically, it looks like a vase, and that is where it gets its name. It can be found from Florida to Mexico, in the Bahamas, and West Indies, anchored to rock projections on the ocean floor. This animal provides refuge for crustaceans, mollusks, and fish, and also produces a toxin, or poison, to help protect itself. |
