Description: |
Gastropods have a very large, muscular foot, a fairly developed head with eyes, mouth, and tentacles, and carry their house around on their back in the form of a shell. Sound familiar? Gastropods are snails! Like todays snails, some Gastropods lived on land and some lived in the water. These are known as Turitella, and lived towards the end of the Cretaceous, which ended about sixty five million years ago. Certain types can even be found here in Indiana. |
