Description: |
This mineral, which can be found in white, blue, green, and violet, can be found in sedimentary and igneous rocks. The United States is the largest producer of fluorite, mostly from Illinois, Kentucky, Colorado, and New Mexico. It is used to smelt ores, make high-test gasoline and make Freon, which is used to keep refrigerators cold. Many times Fluorite will also be fluorescent (glow) in ultraviolet light. |
