Description: |
Thomas Alva Edison did not invent the light bulb, but he did make electric lighting for the home possible. This replica of Edison’s 1879 light bulb used a carbonized filament inside the glass bulb. The bulb produced light for forty hours which was three times longer than Sir Joseph Swan’s 1878 light bulb. Before the light bulb could be installed in every home, Edison and many others worked to build power plants and generators to create and deliver electricity across long distances. |
