Fish farming, such as salmon, herring and cod, is an important contributor to the Norwegian economy. Herring, whether pickled or salted, can be found in most homes in Norway. Also nicknamed “sea silver,” herring is used in many traditional dishes around Christmas, especially Sursild, a spread used for bread. |
