Dispatch call, September 2, 1969

Description: This is a digitized recording of a dictabelt, which the Indianapolis Fire Department used to record dispatch calls during the 1960s and 1970s. Following are the calls on this dictabelt: 1) Fire alarm from a firebox at Graham and Singleton. 2) Several conversations discussing injured fireman, Ronald Legan, needing assistance at 5617 Culver. 3) Improper trash fire at 431 N Haugh. 4) Caller following up an an earlier call, she thinks she accidentally left a burner on at home at 915 N Drexel and had asked if someone could check on it. 4) Caller questions open yard waster burning policy. 5) Caller asks who would check on school at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School, 317 E 57th St, dispatcher gives her the number for the nearest station to the school. 6) Police report smoke coming out of a sewer at Raymond and Keystone. 7) Person with an injured hand at 1228 E Orange. 8) Car on fire reported in the parking lot of the Blackstone building at 3035 S Meridian, across from State Farm Insurance offices. 9) Smoke in the hall at 901 Easton, dispatcher advises caller that fire has already been put out and smoke will clear soon. 10) Unconscious man on the street at 430 N Randolph. 11) Fire reported in the garage at 1344 N Oakland. Recording ends at 5:34 PM.
