From the Indianapolis Firefighters Museum curator, Brian Killilea: June 19, 1913 Daniel Deveney, Hose Wagon 13 - Private, died after being hit by a train while walking next to the tracks. According to newspaper articles, Pvt. Deveney was on vacation at the time of the accident. Under present day standards, this would not be a line of duty death however, his name has always appeared on Line of Duty Death list. D. Deveney |
