Dora Atkins Blackburn attended Butler University. When her mother passed away, she took over the family business Atkins Flower Shop with her sister, Murray. She had a long career in the floral business, managing the shop for more than fifty years. These photographs show her working there in 1928 and 1971. The business and her ability were so renowned she was profiled in an issue of the Opportunity, the magazine of the Urban League in 1937 as well as other publications. |
