West Baden Springs Hotel, Photo 17B

Description: View of the golf course of the West Baden Springs Hotel in Summer. This version of the hotel opened in 1902 after the previous West Baden hotel, erected in 1851, burned down the previous year. Advertised as the Eighth Wonder of the World, it featured the worlds third largest unsupported dome. Besides offering mineral water treatments to visitors, the hotel provided golf, horseback riding, billiards, bowling, baseball, swimming, hiking, bicycling, a movie theater and stage shows, and gambling.
