Group photo taken to commemorate Reverend Frances Dowds 25 years in the preisthood, held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in 1913. Located on the Northwest corner of Vermont and Liberty, St. Joseph Catholic Church was opened in 1830. Born in New Albany in 1862, Reverend Frances Dowd oversaw the building of St. Anthonys Church in 1888 and was the first pastor there before joining St. Joseph Catholic. where he remained pastor until his death in 1942. |
