Premier Motor Manufacturing Company Plant, View Two

Description: This image documents construction of the expansion of the Premier Motor Manufacturing Company plant, which took place in 1909. The additions nearly double the plant size, a response to rapidly increasing demand for their automobiles. Formed in 1903, the Premier Motor Manufacturing Company was originally owned by George A. Weidely and Harold O. Smith. of Indianapolis. The plant was located at Georgia and Shelby Streets. It was purchased by another company in 1915, the same year a fire damaged the plant, and the company was renamed Premier Motor Car Company, then relocated to the T. B. Laycock Company plant.
