View of the West Baden Springs Hotel, Circa 1910

Description: The West Baden Springs Hotel opened in 1902 with a newly constructed building that was centered on a domed circular atrium. Advertised as the Eighth Wonder of the World it featured the worlds third largest unsupported dome. Besides offering mineral water treatments to visitors, the hotel provided golf, horseback riding, billiards, bowling, baseball, swimming, hiking, bicycling, a movie theater and stage shows, and gambling. This view shows the entire area from the covered oval bicycle and pony track on the left to the golf course and hotel out buildings on the far right.
The original nitrate negative was copied with funds provided by a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission in 1990. This digital image was created from that copy.
