362 Base Headquarters & Air Base Squadron Stout Field, Indiana, Capt. Leslie L. Gwaltney, Commanding

Description: Stout Field, headquarters for the Indiana National Guard on the southwest side of Indianapolis, was named for Lt. Richard H. Stout, a decorated veteran of World War I. During World War II it became the Stout Field Army Air Base and the Troop Carrier Command conducted training and directed world-wide air transport operations there throughout the war. This group wearing dress uniforms was part of that operation at Stout Field during WWII.
The original nitrate negative was copied with funds provided by a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission in 1990. This digital image was created from that copy. The copy prints and negatives are stored in Microfiche Number order. Interpositives are stored in PAN number order.
