Enlisted Men and Officers at the Indiana National Guard Encampment at Fort Benjamin Harrison, August 1906

Description:	Fort Benjamin Harrison was established as a military training center in June of 1904 in Lawrence Township of Marion County. During August of 1906, 3,000 Indiana National Guard troops from around the state arrived by trains and poured into the camp. During mock battles and military maneuvers the troops used up 200,000 rounds of blank ammunition. This group of men have Krag-Jorgensen rifles and are wearing campaign hats and canvas ammo belts. Described by the photographer as Standing and Kneeling the same group can be seen in PAN0323. The original nitrate negative was copied with funds provided by a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission in 1990. This digital image was created from that copy. The copy prints and negatives are stored in Microfiche Number order. The Interpositives are stored in PAN number order.
