Indiana Game Wardens in Front of the Athenaeum, Circa 1921

Description: A group of Indiana Game Wardens are assembled in front of a doorway to the Athenaeum ca. 1921. Seated in front at the center is Governor Warren T. McCray. To his right is Richard Lieber, the first director of the Department of Conservation for Indiana. During Liebers tenure from 1919 to 1933 he issued a pamphlet listing Indiana laws that protected fish, game, birds and wild-life and hired game wardens to apprehend violators of those laws.
The original nitrate negative was copied with funds provided by a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission in 1990. This digital image was created from that copy. The copy prints and negatives are stored in Microfiche Number order. Interpositives are stored in PAN number order.
